Digital vs Paper Calendars and Planners

Calendars and Planners are tools that can make our life much easier. They help you manage and organize your time and make the most out of it.

With the rise of technology and the digital world, a replacement for the paper calendars and planners was born. The question becomes, which one should you use, the digital versions of Calendars and planners or the old and traditional paper versions?

Here’s a quick answer for you: Use the digital versions of calendars and planners.

Why? Here’s a list of reasons of why you should always favor the digital versions over the traditional ones

1 – Reminders are only available for the digital calendars and planners

With the digital versions available, you can get reminders for your upcoming events that you have marked on your calendar or your planner.

There is no way a traditional calendar can remind you to do the things that you have marked on it.

With so much going in our lives today, we tend to forget things more often, and notifications are a great way to remind us of the events to come.

2 – Less paper planners means more trees

The less paper you use, the more you’re helping the environment. Trees are an essential part in the process of producing any forms of paper, and reducing the consumption of papers will always be a great step towards a better environment.

While calendars won’t use a lot of pieces of paper because you don’t usually buy a lot of calendars a year, however it’s still better if you just not use it at all when there is a much better digital alternative.

According to this article, hundreds of thousands of trees are being cut everyday. Many of these trees that were cut are usually used for the creation of paper. So again, using less papers of all forms is always a good idea.

3 – Editing digital copies of calendars is easy

There is no way you don’t have to always come back and edit things that you have previously planned or scheduled.

This is how life works, not everything turns out to be written correctly from the first attempt and editing things later is inevitable.

I believe you already know why editing a digital copy of something is much easier than editing a hard copy.

When you edit things written on a paper, the paper will become messy, and you will sometimes have to get rid of the whole paper and rewrite your edited version on a new one, which is a waste of time and resources.

All you need to do to edit a digital copy however is to click a button and change whatever you need to change. It’s simple, easy and fast.

Some digital calendars may also allow you to keep the older versions of your edits so that you don’t lose any previous data you have entered, which brings me to the next point.

4 – Keeping the history of events on your digital copy is seamless

Keeping a history of your previous events and plans is always a good idea for so many reasons. It can become a huge mess if you try to accumulate a bunch of old calendars somewhere just to keep them as a history record.

With a digital copy, they’re just there. You don’t need to worry about them. Your device will not grow in size whenever you keep the history of whatever you have used your calendar and your planner for.

5 – Searching takes no time on digital calendars

Searching through the history of your events in your calendars is much easier on a digital calendar than on a physical one.

Just click the search button, type whatever you’re looking for, and it will pop up in front of you in a matter of a few seconds.

That’s not the case when using a paper calendar as you may have already known.

6 – Accessing your digital calendar is easy

I think we can agree on the fact that our mobile phones are always accessible for us in a matter of seconds.

You can’t say the same thing about the paper calendars and planners. Whenever you need to access them, you’ll have to go to wherever you have stored them to do even the simplest calendar checks.

7 – Sharing a digital calendar requires a few clicks

Sharing your calendar with anyone else is easier than ever with the rise of the internet. If your calendar is digital, you can just share your calendar in a matter of seconds with anyone around the world. The same thing can’t be said about paper calendars and planners.

These were the 7 reasons why you should prefer the digital calendars and planners over the paper versions.
